The Opportunity
Hitachi Energy is seeking an Account Director, Utility to manage and grow a strategic utility customer relationship in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. In this role, you will serve as the primary point of coordination between the customer and Hitachi Energy, helping align business priorities with solutions across the power and energy portfolio. You will work closely with customer executives, internal business units, technical specialists, and project teams to identify opportunities, address complex business challenges, and support long-term account growth. This position combines relationship management, strategic planning, sales execution, and team coordination, with responsibility for increasing customer engagement, expanding orders, and supporting customer satisfaction. You will help utilities navigate changing energy demands by connecting them with technologies and solutions that support grid reliability, operational performance, and modernization efforts. The role also includes coaching team members, coordinating account resources, supporting major pursuits, and helping ensure a consistent customer experience across all interactions with Hitachi Energy.
How You'll Make an Impact
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with utility executives and key stakeholders.
- Develop and execute account plans aligned with customer priorities and business goals.
- Coordinate resources across multiple business units to deliver customer value.
- Identify, qualify, and advance growth opportunities within the assigned account.
- Facilitate complex commercial discussions and negotiations.
- Monitor customer satisfaction and support timely resolution of significant issues.
- Support capture planning, opportunity development, and strategic project pursuits.
- Coach and coordinate account team members to ensure effective execution and customer engagement.
- Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
Your Background
- Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering, technical, or business discipline required.
- MBA preferred.
- 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience in customer-facing sales roles, preferably within the energy industry.
- Experience managing direct reports is preferred.
- Exposure to multiple products, customers, geographies, or market segments.
- Proven ability to work effectively within a matrixed team environment.
- Experience with customer relationship management, sales pursuits, problem resolution, and stakeholder engagement.
- Solid business acumen with the ability to understand customer priorities, market trends, and commercial considerations.
