As a High Voltage Field Service Engineer with Hitachi Energy, you’ll perform complex field service assignments supporting High Voltage Circuit Breakers and other High Voltage equipment up to 800kV. From installation and commissioning to troubleshooting, testing, upgrades, overhauls, and repairs, you’ll use your technical expertise to solve challenging electrical and mechanical problems and help customers keep critical equipment operating safely and reliably.
You’ll have the autonomy to assess unusual field conditions, determine corrective actions with minimal guidance, and anticipate customer needs. You’ll also lead assigned field service projects, analyze test results, and provide technical direction in the assembly and operation of specialized test equipment.

How You’ll Make an Impact
- Install, commission, maintain, troubleshoot, test, repair, overhaul, upgrade, retrofit, and replace High Voltage equipment up to 800kV.
- Diagnose complex electrical and mechanical issues and independently determine effective corrective actions.
- Anticipate customer needs and deliver professional field and remote services that exceed expectations.
- Identify potential equipment failures and proactively implement preventive measures while communicating findings to internal partners.
- Lead assigned field service projects, including non-destructive examinations, complex testing, analysis, and technical reporting.
- Select, adapt, and modify test equipment and procedures, evaluating data to identify and resolve equipment problems or malfunctions.
- Provide technical leadership in the assembly and operation of field service test equipment.
- Identify potential sales opportunities and recommend product, process, and service improvements through customer insight and collaboration across Hitachi Energy.
Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
Your Background
- Strong technical experience with High Voltage Circuit Breakers and/or related High Voltage equipment, including equipment rated up to 800kV.
- Demonstrated expertise in installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, inspection, repair, overhaul, upgrades, or retrofits.
- Strong electrical and/or mechanical troubleshooting skills with the ability to independently determine corrective actions.
- Ability to lead complex field assignments, analyze test results, prepare technical reports, and provide technical direction.
- Strong customer service, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work nonstandard schedules at field locations and within varying environmental conditions.
