Summary of the position:

As a member of our growing Marketing and Communications team, the Communications and Graphic Design Specialist will be responsible for supporting the external communications strategies and tactics to promote, protect and enhance the reputation of Sullair, and the internal communications programs to perpetuate the Sullair employee value proposition.

Written Communications - 70%: A strong writer and editor, the Communications and Graphic Design Specialist communicates in a clear and concise manner and is adept at telling a story. They are comfortable with technical language and at simplifying complex messaging. They are able to adapt their writing skills to a variety of communications mediums and audiences.

Graphic Design – 30%: Creative and proficient in graphic design, the Communications and Graphic Design Specialist will provide graphic backing to the marketing communications team while adhering to brand standards. The Communications and Graphic Design Specialist will provide graphic support for social media, photo editing, communications material development including presentations, proposals and more.

This person must be a self-starter, organized and very detail oriented. They are flexible and able to meet deadlines with quick turnarounds. They must be able to develop relationships with colleagues at multiple levels of the organization and maintain good relationships with outside vendors and agencies.

Location:  Chicago, Illinois or Remote (Eastern or Central time zones preferred)

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Support public relations activities, including drafting and distributing press releases, pitching, ghostwriting, managing editorial calendar and more
  • Support the company’s social media presence (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and YouTube) and maintain excellent working relationship with advertising agency partner
  • Support the Sullair Blog and assist with content as needed, including customer stories, whitepapers, web content, brochures, flyers, etc.
  • Support overflow creative needs of the marcomm department including sponsorship ads, layout and design work, photo editing
  • Develop professional presentations for internal and external audiences
  • Assist with industry award and recognition programs for the company and employees
  • Assist with advertising campaigns, advertorials and branding efforts, as needed
  • Assist with creating content for the quarterly employee newsletter
  • Maintain positive community and industry relations with organizations, advocacy groups, publications, etc.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to tradeshows, company events or customer sites (less than 10%)


Education and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing/communications desired
  • Experienced in InDesign, Photoshop and other Adobe Creative Suite programs
  • Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote) required

Professional experience:

  • 1-3 years of relevant communications and social media work experience in a similar role
  • 1-3 years of graphic design experience.  Portfolio examples required.
  • Good writing, editing and proofreading skills (AP Style)
  • Ability to uphold confidentiality when working on sensitive projects
  • Ability and willingness to travel to tradeshows, company events or customer sites (less than 10%)
