Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Product Safety Senior who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Pistoia, IT.

Ensures the compliance of latest safety regulations; communicates product safety policies and requirements to vendors, product development team, merchandising team, and other sourcing functions; establishes database to track international regulations, guidelines and standards pertaining to product safety, chemical restrictions, etc. A Senior Professional (P3) applies advanced knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. Responsibilities may include: Managing projects / processes, working independently with limited supervision. Coaching and reviewing the work of lower level professionals. Problems faced are difficult and sometimes complex.
The activity consists in carrying out safety analyzes according to EN 50126 and Military STD standards mainly for ETR1000 platforms, regional trains and mass transit vehicles
Identification of the contractual and regulatory requirements relating to safety, reliability and maintainability aspects of the vehicle.
Allocation of Safety requirements to the vehicle subsystems.
Performing the preliminary hazard analysis (PHA) identifying the preventive measures for the mitigation of the consequences and the related validation methods.
Preparation of the RAMS activities Plan to be developed for the risk management and Safety requirements in the development of the project until complete validation;
project documentation inspection and developing of the RAMS analysis (reliability, corrective maintenance, preventive maintenance plan, SHA, Hazard Log and Safety Case) in order to verify compliance with the RAMS requirements including the calculation of the life cycle cost for the aspects of maintenance.
Checking of the RAMS analyses developed by the suppliers of the main vehicle systems.
Providing the vehicle design team with the feedback necessary for design changes to comply with the RAMS requirements.
Checking of the type tests reports necessary for the validation of the safety requirements.
Knowledge of the European Regulation 402/2013 on the adoption of a Common Safety Method;
Good knowledge of RAMS Standard EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129.
Good knowledge of main RAMS Software tools (Isograph Reliability Workbench, Item ToolKit, etc.)
Knowledge of the main office automation software / tools (Word, Excel, etc.) is essential.
Good knowledge of written and spoken English (at least B2 level)
Master's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics disciplines are a preferential title)
Fluent Knowledge of English (written & spoken).
