Hours: 9am-6pm (with one-hour lunch break), Monday - Friday

Summary:

Hitachi America, Ltd. (www.hitachi-america.us) is looking for a candidate pursuing their Masters / Ph.D. degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Robotics, Industrial Engineering or related field to join our Research & Development team as an Intern. The Research Intern will be involved in research related to Collaborative Robot/Human-Robot Interaction. This position will require sound knowledge in Robot sensing, recognition, motion and control. The position requires the intern to work as a team member with good communication and written skills. The intern will also periodically communicate with the supervisor to define the scope of the work and to document the research.

Qualifications:

• Pursuing a Masters or PhD degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Robotics, Industrial Engineering or related field is required.
• Knowledge of robot vision & tactile perception, machine learning, robot path and motion planning and control technologies is required.
• Experience in collaborative robots and human-aware motion planning or safe behavior planning is required.
• Experience in teleoperation, VR/AR, natural language processing and knowledge architecture is a plus
• Experience of robotics platform (ROS, Robotics API, ORiN, FIELD System, etc.) or robotics simulator (gazebo, Isaac, Bullet, V-REP, etc.) and developing algorithms or control software in Python, Java or C++ is required.
• Good literature survey, technical writing & communication skills.
• Ability to plan and execute experiments; document, analyze and present results.
• Ability to work in a team environment and demonstrate dedication to completing jobs on time.
