Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Manufacturing Instrumentation/Calibration Senior Technician in Batesburg, SC. who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic.

The Manufacturing Instrumentation/Calibration Senior Technician work focuses on:

  • Installing, calibrating, testing, and repairing instruments and technologies that monitor the environmental conditions within a manufacturing facility including: Inspecting and testing the operation of instruments/devices (e.g., oscilloscopes, calipers, pressure gauges, and temperature controllers) to diagnose faults. Installing and maintaining control and measurement instruments on plant equipment.
  • Testing and measuring heat, light, voltage, amperage, weight, vacuum, magnetic resistance, or various content measurements to ensure conformance with quality standards and controls.
  • May also work with Engineers to design and build custom instrument and control devices where required.
  • Provides assistance and training to lower level employees. Problems typically are not routine and require analysis to understand.

Accountabilities:

  • Schedule external calibration vendors and/or repairs generating purchase requisitions as required.
  • Perform both mechanical and electrical equipment calibrations.
  • Define and maintain schedules for all calibrated tools, generating weekly reports and processing tool transfers.
  • Maintain records in database and perform tracking & labeling of tools.
  • Issue out of tolerance notifications and record outcomes.
  • Ensure the implementation of assigned actions as per the manufacturing action plan (i.e. audit support, failure analysis, improvement plan, etc.)

Required Skills:

  • Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment calibration certificate (ex.: ASQ CCT) or equivalent. Will consider training funding and support of qualified candidate willing to attain ASQ CCT certification.
  • Broad knowledge of operational procedures and tools obtained through extensive work experience and may require vocational or technical education.
  • May require the following proficiency: Works under limited supervision for routine situations.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and build effective relationships.
  • Detail oriented with ability to maintain accurate records and perform precise measurements.
  • Ability to handle/maneuver equipment with weights up to 50 pounds.
