Senior System Engineer

HITACHI RAIL STS USA, INC. is seeking a Senior System Engineer to work in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  Position allows for the ability to work from home for up to three days per week, with appropriate telecommuting systems. The Senior System Engineer will be required to perform the following duties: (1) performing electronics engineering analysis and deriving system and sub-system requirements, including design system specifications using standard (SysML and UML) notation to efficiently explore alternatives; (2) ensuring the successful electronics engineering and delivery of the Test Procedure and Report for signaling systems according to Hitachi’s engineering standards and best practices;  (3) providing expertise for the electronics engineering analysis of lab and field testing for large scale control systems, including reading and writing technical specifications and support system configuration management for the system;  (4) analyzing design operations to make better decisions across various functions in engineering disciplines, which includes hardware, software, electrical, wayside and communications;  (5) review and develop technical designs, systems integration, maintenance and operations plans, and provide support to project management and budget reviews;  (6)  developing the traceability matrix from requirements to test engineering procedures with the use of Dynamic Object Oriented Requirements Systems, and establishing and updating baselines for engineering test procedures and association requirements; and (7) providing electronic engineering expertise for the development and implementation of overall project technical solutions.

Position requires a ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­Bachelors degree in Electrical, Electronics or Communications Engineering, as well as five years of experience in a signaling functional design position.

Experience required with the following: (1) experience with the delivery of functional design documentation, including system requirements and architecture, interface control and analysis; (2) experience with the design and production check of on board signaling systems, by supporting production of project scope, detailed signaling scheme plans, signaling circuits including cable core plans, bonding diagrams, and power supply; (3) experience with the production of detailed documentation for system configuration, including creation of required documents in accordance with company processes and the Configuration Management systems; and (4) experience with safety designs which are compliant with safe electrical and electronics engineering practices, including the preparation of on-board system designs reflecting current and client signaling practices; (5) experience with railroad domain, standards and processes;   (6)  experience with developing and validating interlocking equations from the civil drawings and control tab; (7) experience with UML and SysML models for system specifications; (8) experience with Driverless ATC, CBTC and PTC systems; and (9) experience with Safety assessment processes including TUV and  RINA.
