The Role

Hitachi Vantara is seeking a Software Engineering Manger to join our global product innovation team to drive development of new products. In this role, you will be working with a diverse team of engineers, business stakeholders, and product owners to help build next-generation cloud products. The candidate will help distill project requirements and business objectives into execution plans that guide the engineering efforts. You will also be responsible for the overall engineering execution for the development of a new product. You will be empowered to make key decisions that drive the direction of your product. You will need to be hands-on, in the trenches with your team, willing to take responsibility to solve problems as they come up.

  • Serve as the principal development manager leading a world-class team of engineers building our next-generation, data mobility solution.
  • Collaborate with product owners and product managers to co-develop an engineering roadmap which clearly outlines development plans.
  • Lead the software development execution, define practices and processes, help continue to grow the team, and guide existing members.
  • Manage day-to-day execution of globally distributed agile development teams.
  • Take responsibility for overall product quality and ensure the team is delivering the right capabilities when stakeholders expect it.

  • MS/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline with 10+ years relevant experience
  • 3+ years of direct people management experience, managing engineering teams
  • Experience working with product teams
  • Demonstrated aptitude for working with program management and product management teams
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of Agile development

  • Direct experience building sophisticated software systems that have been successfully delivered
  • Knowledge of software engineering best practices
  • Experience executing the full software development lifecycle
  • Demonstrated success implementing code reviews, version control, source control, build management, testing, operations in real world projects.
  • Previous project experience building a product.
  • Lead the design, development, and sustaining engineering efforts

Desired Qualifications
  • Understanding of or direct experience working with storage protocols such as iSCSI, NFS, S3, etc.
  • Experience with cloud services, infrastructure, and platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Previous work building a scale-out platform or distributed systems

"For Colorado only (as required by the Colorado Equal Pay Act): The expected salary for this position in our Colorado office is $115,000 - $175,000. Pay is determined based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, depth of experience in the practice area. Employees are eligible to participate in Hitachi Vantara's variable pay program, subject to the program's conditions and restrictions."
