The Country Head of Human Resources Australia and New Zealand is the strategic lead on all HR aspects for regional workforce. The Country Head of HR ANZ forms an integral part of the regional HR matrix and will lead on all country-specific HR needs and issues in collaboration with the global and other regional HR team. The Country Head of HR ANZ will work closely with senior business leaders and the HR team to ensure robust HR management processes, sound relationships with Hitachi Corporate and strong support to Company business growth and possible future merging & acquisitions programmes.
About the position: Australia is a key growth geography in the Asia-Pacific region with a sizeable business for the Hitachi Rail organization. Led by a Country representative who also leads the Sales & Projects function for the organization, this is a key leadership position for Australia. Additionally, there are several regional level leaders who are based in Australia and the incumbent is expected to provide location support to them in effective discharge of their duties. The position will be a part of the Australia Leadership Council and Asia Pacific HR Leadership team.
What are we looking for: We are looking for a mature and hands-on leader who appreciates transformational nature of Human Resource function in enabling the business.
What do we expect: We expect the incumbent to bring strategic foresight and understanding of his/her business and the role HR plays in enabling the same. At the same time the incumbent should be able to understand the key deliverables from HR function and ensure that s/he is able to coach and work with a young team to ensure timely delivery of HR outcomes.
Broad responsibilities for the incumbent will include but not be limited to:
Business Partnering: with business leaders in Australia and New Zealand to support the business in the sub-region
HR Strategy: Developing and deploying HR Strategy for Australia and New Zealand in line with APAC HR Strategy to support the business strategies in Australia and New Zealand
Building culture: building a unified Hitachi Rail and a high performing culture; that is both Diverse and Inclusive
Talent Availability: Manage Talent Acquisition and Retention of talent to ensure availability of adequate resources for the business.
Talent Management and Succession Planning: Leverage Hitachi Rail global program to ensure business continuity from a talent perspective
Talent and Leadership development: Growth trajectory of business requires significant investment in Talent and Leadership development to sustain the growth momentum
Manage Industrial Relations: Ability to lead negotiations with industrial unions that represent a cross-section of blue-collar workers in Australia
Employee Engagement: Leverage the Hitachi Insights program to build employee connect and drive employee engagement
Compensation & Benefits: Demonstrate sound understanding of Total cost of resources; benchmarking practices in the industry and be able to lead the discussion on Compensation & Benefits strategy for the sub-region
Mergers & Acquisitions: The group has witnessed significant inorganic growth in the last few years and will need to drive integration of other assets and bring them into Hitachi Rail fold
Any other: As this role is part of both (Australia and Asia Pacific) leadership team(s), any project/responsibility can be assigned to the role holder in addition to his/her work
Key Experiences preferred:

1. partnering with business to support hi-growth strategy
2. designing and implementing Talent strategy for a high-growth organization
3. managing Industrial Relations; maintaining positive union relations will be a key competency for the role holder
4. managing M&A related integration activities
5. leading by influence and be high on EQ to sense the mood of the organization
6. driving adoption of technology in HR; leveraging both Employee Self Service and Manager Self Service modules of Workday.
