Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Datascientist who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Naples - IT

Accountabilities

The Datascientist will improve service quality and equipment reliability through the design and implementation of tools and algorithms for improving workflows and optimizing maintenance processes and costs. The candidate will employ data science, machine learning and statistical analysis techniques in order to extract value from a wealth of operational data.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Analysis of diagnostic and maintenance data.
  • Querying historical data from SQL databases.
  • Performing statistical analysis on collected data to identify critical trends and conditions.
  • Managing the design and distribution of periodic prognostic reports.
  • Define and implement prognostic algorithms using coding languages such as (but not limited to) Python, R, MATLAB.
  • Assist with management of the Hitachi Fleet Monitoring Tool event definition process from requirements gathering through to development and implementation.
  • To comply with and implement Hitachi Rail’s Health and Safety policy.
  • To undertake any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as may be required.

Required Skills/Knowledge

It is our expectation that successful applicants should be able to demonstrate all of the experience and skills listed below:

Essential Requirements

  • Familiar with writing SQL queries.
  • Familiar with coding in at least 1 of Python, MATLAB, R,
  • Experience of statistical analysis including quality control, multiple linear regression models, logistic regression, discriminant analysis, re-sampling techniques.
  • Experience of big data analysis techniques both unsupervised and supervised machine learning.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • An understanding of health and safety requirements of a working environment.
  • Railway system knowledge and experience
  • Able to interpret electrical and pneumatic drawings, system specification, software specification and mechanical drawings

Desirable Requirements:

•          Understanding of RCM principles and methodology.

•          Experience of prediction/CBM algorithms in electrical or mechanical applications in particular for Railway application.

  • Experience in Railway vehicle maintenance

Education/Qualifications

Electrical, Mechanical or Automation Engineering master Degree or equivalent technical background.
 

Languages
 

Fluent Knowledge of English (written & spoken).
