POSITION SUMMARY: Coordinates and directs the activities of the Cylinder Department to maximize productivity and minimize cost while maintaining quality.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safety – conduct all activities in a safe manner, utilizing PPE while adhering to company policy and alerting others regarding potential concerns. Safety is # 1.
  • Lead the cylinder department, setting and monitoring operational performance. Ensure compliance to the production schedule and manufacturing priorities to achieve or exceed production goals.
  • Monitor, coach and technicians for attendance, tardiness, and work performance.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement ensuring standardized work processes are followed through daily performance audits.
  • Successfully investigate, analyze and implement corrective actions related to customer or internal product and process concerns.
  • Maintains safety and clean work environment by educating and directing personal; enforces compliance with established safety policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Monitor and control machining & tooling costs and to work within the approved budget.

DECISION MAKING:

Position will be required to make decisions that will directly impact the department.

INTERNAL/EXTERNAL CONTACTS:

Position requires collaboration with department managers and current/potential customers.

QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in supervisor/leadership role.
  • A certificate from an accredited technical school and two years' experience; or equivalent education and experience.
  • Work related experience must consist of hands-on Machinist/Mechanic or Welder work.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills and the ability to provide leadership, supervision and training using positive supervisory techniques to ensure maximum productivity; demonstrated ability in organization and delegation skills.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Effectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written in the English language. Ability to effectively interpret and translate instructions to other employees in a professional and respectful manner.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
