HITACHI RAIL is looking for an experienced and self driven Senior Project Manager who thrives in a fast-paced environment with complicated projects. The successful candidate is comfortable being responsible for all aspects of contract management from tendering to the final execution, keeping to internal standard procedures and current market trends to attract new business. The position is based in Munich.

Accountabilities:

  • Developing contract strategy and project proposals based on the policies, requirements, budgets and timescales, ensuring that they meet the agreed technical standards.

  • Identifying, discussing, negotiating and reviewing the contract baseline (such as terms and conditions etc.) and other documentation incorporated within the contract and ensuring its compliance to maximize financial and operational performance and risk reduction.

  • Ensuring contractual and risk management relating to all commercial aspects, (such as payments, claims, variation orders, etc.), certifying all activities are executed in a timely and accurate manner, protecting the main parties interests throughout the project(s) lifecycle.

  • Documenting any changes/amendments that may occur during the contract execution by creating and maintaining a contract database, whilst assessing and monitoring the success/deviations of the contract to identify any required changes and devising plans to implement them.

  • Verifying that parties have fulfilled all contractual obligations in defending and enforcing claims, developing the negotiation strategy as well as conducting training sessions for the team where applicable.

Required Skills/ Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of HOAI (Honorarordnung für Architekten und Ingenieure) processes and phases
  • Knowledge of the main guidelines applicable in German project execution 'richtlinie'
  • General knowledge of the main planning and field access rules
  • General knowledge of the main homologation processes applicable in Germany
  • Experience as manager of multiple teams or team leaders
  • Experience with ownership of short to mid-terms execution of functional strategy
  • Good problem solver of complex issues
  • Good at investigation and analyzing
  • Strong team player
  • Able to influence others
  • Strong communication skills

Education: Bachelor’s Degree

Languages: German and English proficiency
