Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Solution Engineer  that , accross the power of artificial intelligence, advanced optimization algorithms, and distributed cloud computing, design innovative solution that will permit to plans and schedules the movements of every vehicle and driver with incredibly detailed insight into how each decision affects operations, costs, and on-site performance. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Naples.

Accountabilities

• Accountable for building a new class of public transportation scheduling - helping cities and operators plan and execute optimal schedules to maximize the level of service
• Analyse and compile system, subsystem requirements specifications and design definitions
• Demonstrable software engineering experience with a proven track record of specification, design and development of complex software in the transport sector
• Prepare reports, manuals, procedures and status reports, including, ability to create and review reports, technical documents, test specifications, contracts and proposals
• Share technical expertise within the department and other internal/external parties as requested
• Partner with the team’s Product Manager to prioritize tasks

Required Skills/Knowledge

• Experience in producing requirements, high and low level design/test documentation
• Experienced professional with a software engineering background, a strong understanding of web and cloud architecture
• Experience leading productive, efficient teams
• Experience with relational or NoSQL DB such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL
• Experience using modern JavaScript stack (Webpack, Redux, SCSS, Jasmine)
• Experience with testing frameworks and methodologies
• Familiarity with AWS or an alternative cloud environment
• Experience in the mobility/transportation industry

Education/Qualifications

Degree in a Computer Science or an Engineering subject

 

Languages
 

Fluent Knowledge of English (written & spoken).
