Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Manufacturing Planner who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Batesburg, SC.

The Manufacturing Planner is responsible for ensuring that production schedules are met and that products are produced on time and within budget by arranging for delivery, assembly, or distribution of supplies or parts to expedite the flow of materials and meet production schedules. Analyze short-term constraints establishing recommendations for resolution by working cross-functionally with Procurement, Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing to execute solutions. This position is also responsible for expediting assigned purchase orders to ensure all requirements specified in the purchase order are accomplished including document delivery, efficient coordination, inspections, on-time delivery, and inventory levels.

Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for expediting purchased material.
  • Creating reports as needed for inspection, inventory and output.
  • Recommend solutions to reduce production costs as well as improve production processes and product quality.
  • Work with Controlling to insure correct material costing and inventory reporting.
  • Promptly informing the relevant departments of changes to current production schedules.
  • Expedite and monitor Supplier deliveries.
  • Work with any parties necessary to resolve supplier and manufacturing delivery problems (material issues, RTV’s, engineering problems, etc.…) 
  • Coordinating production operations in accordance with material, labor, and equipment availability.
  • Work with manufacturing managers to plan, release and reschedule work orders, addressing and resolving production issues to minimize delays in production.
  • Effecting changes to production schedules to ensure that production deadlines are met and products are built to the latest revision.

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Business or technical degree or equivalent Background (min 3 years in a business or Supply chain related position)
  • 3 + years of manufacturing and supply chain (Planning, Purchasing or logistics) experience.
  • Experience with SAP.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products with advance Excel understanding.
  • Understanding of MRP and MRP techniques. Specifically as applied to low volume/high mix production
  • Experience in a project base environment a plus.
