Hitachi Rail STS USA is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Installation Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment.  The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of engineering tasks from technical to administrative and strategic.  The candidate will define and manage the Engineering Installation integration design for all the wayside equipment and installation scope of work which includes installation interface processes between the different sub-systems as well as the third parties (e.g. civil, utilities, etc.). The position is based in Missisagua, Canada.

Required Skills/Knowledge:

You will have a Bachelors or Masters Degree with proven engineering management experience gained across a range of rail projects in a multi-disciplinary environment.

You will have the ability to

  • Lead and guide the designer in implementation of the project, using the relevant standards in a role of BIM coordinator and Design Integrator.
  • Understand the rail operational environment and constraints to find solutions to operational constraints.
  • Take account of the priorities of projects, effectively plan, monitor and control the technical delivery of projects to clients.
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of interface processes between civil works and rail sub-systems within transportation/mass transit;
  • Operate independently while establishing strong working relationships with co-workers and cross-functional teams;
  • Demonstrate critical attention to detail and deadlines and are self-motivated;
  • Possess the ability to adapt well to change in direction and priorities in a project and deadline-oriented environment;
  • Must be able to proficiently use AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Word/Excel) and work in a BIM environment;
  • Possess at least five (5) years’ experience with installation projects;

Accountabilities:

  • Engineering Installation Interface management (mainly with civil) and internal coordination, supporting Project Engineer in technical delivery.
  • Champion the consistent use of Hitachi internal processes which ensure that all parties have an agreed understanding of the project and their part within it.
  • Champion a culture of getting design and delivery right first time.
  • Be attentive of delivery commitments and work with the designer to submit delivery on schedule, making sure the inputs from different subsystems are collected on time
  • Track the delivery progresses and make sure inputs and outputs are aligned.
  • Manage and ensure System Engineering requirements are applied to the Engineering Installation project delivery
  • Managing the design of raceways and room layout to make sure all subsystems inputs are taken into considerations, leading the integrated design process until client acceptance
