Summary of the position:

The Sales Application Engineer / Product Specialist is an entry-level sales role working jointly with customers and engineering to ensure highest quality, most reliable system is provided for the application. This role acts as a technical resource between customers and engineering.  Working as part of a cross functional team, the Application Engineer / Product Specialist fields general equipment inquiries (phone & email), technical questions, and special pricing requests.  The candidate will routinely coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and provide customer focused input to the team for success in the market.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Work with internal and external Product Management, Commercial, and Engineering teams to develop specialty equipment proposals.
  • Assist customers with sizing air compressors, air dryers, air filters.
  • Help customers compare various product offerings and articulate technology and product positioning
  • Respond to functional and technical elements of RFQ’s
  • Provide technical sales support to customers.
  • Maintain a high level of product and application knowledge
  • Resolve customer issues or difficulties in a manner that is consistent with the company mission, values, and financial objectives
  • Maintain professional business relationships with all customers.
  • Travel 5-10% in North America to customer sites and facilities.

Qualifications:

High energy, customer centric candidates would have entry level understanding of air compressors or similar rotating equipment assemblies.

Customer friendly personality is required

Education:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering Technology preferred, but not required.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college

Professional experience:

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills to work cross-functionally on product issue resolution
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong customer focus with a demonstrated ability to develop relationships and interface with customers on critical technical matters.
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail.
  • Multitasking capability
  • Technical aptitude to quickly and efficiently gather, understand, condense and organize information necessary to make informed engineering decisions.
  • Ability to communicate clearly using both written and verbal methods.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with all levels of the organizations including both internal and external customers.
  • Knowledge of oil-flooded screw, oil- free screw, and centrifugal compressed air systems preferred
  • Strong analytical abilities and technical knowledge of systems and controls.
