EXPECTED PAY RANGE: $72,451 - $99,620

The Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Program Specialist (STEM PS) has a primary function of supporting the global advancement of the Hitachi High-Tech America’s (HTA) Inspire STEM Education Outreach Program (STEM-EOP) initiative. The STEM PS position has responsibility for supporting the day-to-day program operations for technical training for outreach regions and staff. These include supporting events and outreaches, monitoring & reporting on project milestones, and creating official project records. This position will require the STEM PS to, in person or virtually install, track, remove, and deliver the Tabletop Microscope (TM) from multiple locations as directed. The STEM PS also provides educational training on the microscope usage as needed.

• Demonstrate expertise in using a scanning electron microscope and microscopy skills
• The Specialist is responsible for periodic servicing (preventative maintenance) to the microscopes out in the field and learning labs
• Also work with the EOP staff to establish operating protocols use of electron microscopes including providing technical support.
• Be able to perform reliable sample preparation
• Collaborate and participate in the planning, presenting, and executing of the STEM EOP
• Create and Coordinate the STEM EOP general planning and participation through various administrative and technical functions in formalizing and documenting processes and procedures for programs, events and activities including meetings, programs, workshops, science fairs, career fairs, trade shows, conferences, etc.
• Support STEM-EOP activities within Hitachi Group companies for either Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) or Community Action Committee (CAC) purposes
• Create and coordinate education STEM programming in a creative method for organizations, lead contacts and school stakeholders with consistent written and verbal communication to ensure successful execution and outcomes
• Create and coordinate functions and activities required of projects in a timely manner
• Collect, analyze, and evaluate program data and prepare monthly reports
• Research, compile, and proofread data for documentation, communication, and presentation materials
• Analyzes problems, compiles data, determines approach, and prepares summary reports with recommended solutions
• TM Series Technical Support (training provided by HTA)
  • Create, coordinate, and plan transport and setup TM microscope
  • Research and incorporate best practice for remote access and virtual programming
  • Demonstrate TM Series microscopes to distributors/customers
  • Perform minor maintenance and consult with Engineering divisions for additional maintenance support and training
• Other duties as assigned

• Bachelor of Science degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Master of Science degree in related field a plus

• A minimum of two (2) years of on-the-job experience with sales, applications, teaching/instruction, product support, or Microscopy experience. STEM experience is a plus. Technical experience working with microscopes is not required (full training provided by HTA)
• Average of 50% travel required

• Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Suite with emphasis on Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Ability to effectively use and navigate SalesForce.com
• High degree of attention to detail and multitasking skills required
• Ability to effectively communicate via telephone, email, text message, and instant message
• Ability to use current digital media and adaptability to learn and use future versions
• Ability to speak and present in front of audiences, classes, and/or educators
• Ability to successfully demonstrate an electron microscope and perform EDS analysis on a variety of samples
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle
• Must always have a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
• Ability to effectively communicate (read, write, and speak) in English is required
  • Ability to effectively communicate in Spanish is a plus
• Ability to provide industry bid quotes
• Ability to answer general local and state government-based questions as they relate to the STEM-EOP
• Ability to provide effective support despite travel through changing time zones
• Demonstrate a strong work ethic and be a team player internally and with distributors
• Ability to use a laptop computer, monitor, keyboard, and mouse with or without accommodations
• Ability to use a telephone, smartphone device, copy machine, fax machine, and other office equipment with or without accommodation
• Flexible work schedule that occasionally includes the ability to work from home or work off-site with prior management authorization

• Annual safety courses will need to be taken and passed on a yearly basis
