POSITION:                           Applications Engineer I, II, or Senior

TRAVEL:                               Up to 30%

REMOTE WORK:               Hybrid (+50% Onsite) – Onsite 90% / Remote 10%

Position Level:  The best fit candidate selected for this position will be offered a job title/level (Applications Engineer I vs. Applications Engineer II vs. Senior Applications Engineer) that is most appropriate after evaluating the person's education, experience, training, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Applications Engineer (AE) is responsible for the technical product support for all defect metrology sales activities.  The AE will conduct demonstrations, develop applications, and provide defect metrology training to customers.  AE’s will provide customer application training in order to complete tool installation and acceptance tests.   AE’s use considerable judgment and initiative independently.  AE’s are expected to work on special projects to improve overall department efficiency.  AE’s will provide applications support through classroom training, phone support, and through direct work performed at customer facilities.  Generally, the AE requires minimal supervision and has knowledge across multiple product lines.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Technical product support for all defect metrology sales activities
  • Provide applications support for customers through recipe automation audits
  • Support installs or setup equipment at sales show
  • Develop training and demonstration materials
  • Maintain appropriate records of all work performed and training activities
  • Manage and maintain traveling inventory according to department policy and procedure
  • Set and keep appropriate schedules for training on the assigned customer site
  • Provide highly detailed documentation for the purpose of customer and/or Field Service Engineer training
  • Comply and adhere to company policies
  • Must have and retain valid driver’s license in resident state.  Must be insurable by our insurance company
  • Must be eligible for and receive company credit card
  • Portray professionalism and pride in appearance while conforming to polic
  • Exhibit a positive attitude to all employees and customers
  • Protect and maintain company property (i.e., traveling inventory, company care, test equipment, tools, etc.)
  • Willingness to relocate and travel

EDUCATION, LICENSES, and/or CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • AS degree in electronics or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • BS degrees in Electronics Engineering a plus

EXPERIENCE and TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong work ethic  (i.e., On time to work and training, on time completion of assignments, strong preparation for assignments, effective teamwork, etc.)
  • Experience using Microsoft Suite with focus on Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
  • Experience using UNIX is a plus
  • Travel as much as 30% to customer sites in order to provide applications support 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and/or ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to effectively communicate information to customers and manager regarding all activities and schedules
  • Basic Knowledge and understanding of Physics and Chemistry
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with management, co-workers, internal and external customers
  • Ability to work with no instructions
  • Ability to work on assignments that are complex utilizing considerable judgement and initiative
  • Ability to give training classes or OJT on complex system theory to both Field Service Engineers and customers
  • Ability to complete provide advanced customer training
  • Ability to effectively interface with customers, service department personnel and others
  • Equipment specific operation skills
