Suspension Engineering Intern

General Responsibilities:

These intern positions are designed to give undergraduate engineers a corporative experience which will be useful in their future profession.  This program provides early exposure to world class technology and product development processes, while also acclimating participant’s to the Hitachi Astemo culture.  Our goal is a full immersion of the interns into our development system, making them to take part of the technical aspects while assigning them real tasks required for the projects.

Within this scope, this position is for the area of Advanced Chassis Department, where we work with new design and methodologies, which will likely be in place in the future.

• Activities will be related to the benchmark material creation, related to the chassis damper new technology, especially focused on CCD. This is in line with the current road map defined for the department, which is a working plan defined for the next 3 years
• Tasks related to the CCD road map: internal semi-active technology, optimized hydraulic scheme of the current CCD technology and study of dual solenoid design are the key focus of attention. Supporting to in vehicle implementation, planning activities, vehicle measurements and design evaluation are activities within the scope considered for these technologies when prototypes will be available. Help on creating the methodology for Hitachi CCD testing procedures, to be evaluated in a bench and later in a demo car.

• Formalized internship plan,  to give the participants opportunity to immerge in a corporative environment and help them in their professional development;
• Assigned Mentors;
• Hands on exposure to multiple internal departments and projects;

Position Descriptions:

• Mechanical Engineer:  These positions will focus primary in the area of suspension, simulation, testing and project management. 

Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities;

• Experience coordinating and facilitating several small or one major project.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Very good organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Ability to work independently while provided proper direction. 
• Experience with PCs and application software, such as MS Office tools

Education:  Engineering students, preferable Mechanical Engineer.

Working conditions:

Physical Demands: Required to sit or stand for long periods of time. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment: Primarily in a professional business office with exposure to testing areas    and periodic exposure to manufacturing environments.
