Mechanical Engineer Power Electronics (m/f/d)

In this position you will work in the development of Inverter (Powertrain Electronics) as part of electrical drivetrain in passenger cars as well as product development support in optimization of customized Inverter for electric drivetrain.

Your core responsibilities include:

  • Execute, lead, plan and track engineering and design activities during development of automotive power electronic components to customer requirements

  • With input from team members design Inverter within the project team from concept to production

  • Coordinate engineering / design work and data transfer between development team in Japan and OEM customer in Germany

  • Evaluate customer mechanical specifications and requirements

  • Coordinate activities with suppliers and in house testing

  • Analysis of test and validation results and definition of development action

  • Support customer vehicle test in regards to Power Electronic component

  • Make design recommendations with evaluated risks, cost improvements, etc.

  • Ensure design proposals meet customer requirements & specifications

  • Support customer presentations, interfacing with OEMs on technical level to power electronics regarding voltage level, efficiency, power output, safety issues, robustness, packaging and reliability of electronics (hardware)

  • Support quotation process with technical knowledge of designs to meet specifications and requirements (critical requirements analysis, create project specific system/product architecture)

Profile and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with strong background in power electronics (high Voltage) for mobile application

  • 5 years working experience at least 3 years as Engineer in the field of power electronics

  • Strong experience in Inverter topologies, electrical devices, schematics and layout esp. EMI electrical safety know how (high Voltage)

  • Some experience in design of power electronics development and commercialization

  • Knowledge and skills of CAD systems in CATIA or SolidWorks and Automotive design process

  • Service oriented working style with great ability to analyze problems and recommend solutions of mechanical systems

  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and oral) and interpersonal skills; working within international teams (interaction between local team, customer and development team abroad)
