Description

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Set-up, troubleshoot, and operate Mazak Horizontal Machining Centers that perform various machine functions such as cutting, milling, reaming, boring.
  • Adjust the machines and the tooling as needed to consistently manufacture quality parts.
  • Responsible for ensuring quality of parts through regular inspection during production and statistical process control chart tracking.
  • Inspect parts using visual and manual inspection equipment including calipers, micrometers, boring gauges etc.
  • Read and understand blueprints and geometric dimension tolerancing.
  • Safe material handling processes, including forklift driving and overhead crane operating.
  • Execute daily production, quality, and on time delivery requirements.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School Education or equivalent.
  • Machine trades schooling and/or 5 years machining experience.

Professional experience:

  • 5-10 years of machining experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of machine shop equipment including but not limited to: CNC Grinders, Lathes and Mills.
  • Mazak Horizontal Mill experience preferred.
  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • Understand technical blueprints.
  • Computer skills required (i.e., spreadsheets, data entry, email)
  • Ability to use precision measurement device.
  • Successfully complete training and receive a Forklift Operator’s License.

Key behaviors:

  • Lifting to 35 lbs. Lifting over 35 lbs. requires a lifting device, crane, or assistance from another associate.
  • Standing and walking minimum of 8 hrs.
  • Must be able to bend/stoop, squat/crouch, kneel and twist
  • Working with cranes, sharp edges on machined parts, and moving parts by carts.
  • Must understand and comply with Sullair Safety Standards.
  • Participate in EHS quarterly audits, if required.
  • Required to wear the proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for the work area.
  • Required to attend scheduled toolbox and safety meetings.
  • Must immediately report injuries or unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
