Internship BAC+5: Design of DCDC Boost synchronous converter and voltage upgrade of three phase inverter

Internship Summary

The candidate will be part of an engineering design hardware team which is responsible of designing and integrating power electronic converters in automotives modules.

As part of the development of new automotive module with a technological evolution compared to the existing one, a study is planned on the use of DC/DC converter to power up a voltage increased 48V PMSM Inverter, in this context, we are looking for an 6 month internship Bac + 5 from an engineering school or equivalent (Master).

Main Tasks & Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Understand how the synchronous boost and 48V inverter works​
  • Component Selection and schematics  ​(Boost design and 48V inverter)Converter simulation on Ltspice or Equivalent​
  • Control simulation on MATLAB ​
  •  Mock-up Boost and ​Evaluate the PCBA space.
  • Evaluate the cost/efficiency of the Boost& 48V inverter and make a comparison with 12V inverter without Boost.
  • Study the benefit from system level of locating Boost at BCU vs locating Boost at EMB.
  • Take consideration of safety recommendation for ASIL D compliance.

Skills & Competencies Required

  • Master in Electronics​
  • Power and analog Electronics
  • Ltspice and MATLAB Simulation​
  • Good knowledge of Excel​
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to work independently while provided proper direction
  • Electrical machines knowledge
  • Understanding of Altium is a plus
