Description

HITACHI RAIL is looking for a Pre-Sales Engineering Manager who can support us in our expansion into the German Railway market. The successful candidate will have an active lead role in bids for identifying project opportunities and provide technical knowledge and support in the pre/bidding phase. The position is based in Munich.

Main Responsibilities

  • Act as a link between the ultimate users and Hitachi Rail’s Engineering by advising on key technical requirements and developments in the German railway market
  • Develop and maintain a technical fleets database in Hitachi Rail’s identified main European markets
  • Contribute to global R&D roadmap and portfolio management by identifying Germany’s technology trends and product needs
  • Understand the needs of customers and be able to respond effectively with a plan of how to meet them, setting objectives in order to develop and improve the business
  • Coordinate with design teams to ensure that designs meet customer needs and can be manufactured cost effectively
  • Provide information about products or services to potential clients, including demonstrations of new products or services
  • Provide technical support in business development activities in Germany, including active participation in customers meetings, response to RFI, PQ and ITT and manage an up-to-date RFI/PQ/ITT technical response library to allow for swift responses and applications
  • Support in creating detailed plans for the project timeline, expense estimates, and project specifications, such as materials needed and team requirements
  • Guide, support and contribute towards negotiations and contract acquisition during a bidding phase
  • Provide support in the corporate approval process according to the current standards and processes
  • Comply with and implement Hitachi Rail’s Health and Safety policy.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as may be required by the job

Essential Requirements and skills

It is our expectation that successful applicants should be able to demonstrate all of the experience and skills listed below:

  • Work experience in German passenger railway industry
  • Experience in design and engineering of regional trains
  • Knowledge of the main regulations in the railway field
  • Collaboration and good relationship management with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to prioritize and Meet Deadlines
  • Available to undertake frequent business travelling within Germany

Additional desirable Requirements and skills

  • Experience in a railway manufacturing organisation
  • Experience in Project Management
  • Experience in TCO evaluation approach and models
  • Knowledge of RAMS disciplines
  • Railway transportation market/models knowledge (Technical and economical)
  • An understanding of health and safety requirements of a working environment

Languages

  • German at native level
  • English at fluent level
  • Italian and/or other commonly spoken European languages is a plus
