Description

We are recruiting for a Senior HSE Manager to join our Brisbane project delivery team. 

The role will be responsible for providing Health, Safety and Environmental support for our Brisbane project. 

The primary purpose is to contribute to influence positive attitudes and behaviors that foster a positive safety culture, ensure continuous improvement and good corporate governance of Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.     

The secondary purpose is to support the Alliance Management Team and provide expert advice, support and coordination to achieve best practice and maintain compliance with Workplace Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) legislation, GBMS and client requirements.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on a high-profile rail infrastructure project as part of a global team.   

Key accountabilities include, but not limited to:

  • Leadership of the HSE function
  • Foster a culture of teamwork and cooperation across all Departments and Stakeholders.
  • Providing assurance, tools, technical advice and coaching including safety leadership, risk management, HSE systems, incident investigation, audit and training
  • Drive continuous improvement of HSE, contributing to implementation of best practice, improved safety leadership, engagement with the workforce and influencing of positive behaviours
  • Liaise with and provide advice and support to Senior Management to ensure effective integration and high standard of HSE compliance and due diligence
  • Ensure that the Alliance complies with its crisis and security management and assurance obligations with all applicable statutory requirements
  • Ensure all activities undertaken on the project comply with applicable Health Safety and Environment related legislation and IMS, HSE Plans, contractual and principal contractor requirements

We are looking for a person with:

  • Tertiary qualification in HSE and 5+ years’ experience in a high-risk industry.
  • Experience in the rail industry, a client facing role and acting as Principal Contractor highly regarded.
  • Experience in reporting with good attention to detail.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to influence and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Working knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations is essential.
