About Us

Hitachi Construction Machinery Australia (HCA) is a leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, with a solid network of branches nationally. We sell our equipment and services to a multitude of customers within the mining, construction, quarrying and waste-handling industries with quality equipment and dedicated after sales support.

The Role

HCA now has an exciting opportunity in the Northern NSW (Northern Rivers) area for an enthusiastic Sales Hunter, to join the sales team in the position of Construction Equipment Sales Representative. Answering to the Brisbane (Wacol) branch, this role will have you selling new Hitachi Mini Excavators, Hitachi Construction Excavators, Hitachi Wheel Loaders, and Bell Articulated Dump Trucks, and selling used equipment of various brands. This position has come about because the incumbent employee has been promoted into another role, but will remain in the Northern NSW area and will assist in training the successful candidate for this position.

Whilst there is a high element of existing account management with this role, there will also be an emphasis on proactively prospecting for new business, as the successful applicant is expected to continue to grow the already impressive market share in this region. Reporting to the QLD Sales Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Managing relationships in an existing network of customers within the territory
  • Actively seeking out sales opportunities for new and used equipment (ie: daily cold calling/prospecting for new business)
  • Helping to organise, and attend, trade shows and related networking activities
  • Continually keeping the CRM system up to date to reflect the activities you have performed within your region
  • Meeting market share expectations and other KPI's provided by Management

About You

To be successful in this role you will need to have:

  • A genuine desire to deliver Hitachi's promise of Total Customer Satisfaction as you develop and maintain positive relationships with your customers.
  • Excellent cold-calling/telephone skills and a strong belief in regular prospecting
  • A high motivational drive to meet and exceed sales targets
  • Experience in operating and maintaining a CRM system
  • A confident, courteous, professional and ethical sales approach
  • A reasonably strong mechanical aptitude
  • The willingness to travel (usually 1 night per week), and…
  • A current Drivers Licence

You will also need to be a trustworthy individual, who is self-motivated and be able to work autonomously, as you will be operating from your home much of the time.

We are offering:

  • Permanent Full Time Position in a leading OEM with long term job security
  • Generous base, plus one of the most lucrative uncapped commission structures in the industry, plus company car, plus laptop and phone
  • Exclusive staff discount on a range of goods and services
  • Supportive mentors who value your input in finding new and improved ways to achieving success
  • Being part of a leading OEM team which genuinely values and ensures everyone is happy and safe at work!

At Hitachi, we value our people and work towards providing guidance on your career path towards a rewarding and successful experience. We are proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer who recruits based on merit and capabilities. We encourage and support a diverse talent pool of skill, ethnicity and gender, to create a wide culture of shared values and enriched experiences in our business.
