Summary of the position:

The Manufacturing Transformation Manager will understand all manufacturing business processes, lead business process evaluation sessions, and ensure comprehensive process consistency between users/systems. This manager will own the transformation initiatives by collaborating with site leaders on strategy and deployment objectives. In support of the strategic plan and the business-operating plan in multiple sites, this manager will also pursue implementing Industry 4.0 technologies by integrating new technologies, including Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing and analytics, machine learning (ML), and artificial intelligence (AI) into the production facilities and throughout operations.

The position is located at the Michigan City, Indiana manufacturing location.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Lead cross-functional transformation projects designed to analyze and design sequence of operations and workflows for improved efficiencies.
  • Assist in the accountability for the day-to-day decisions that directly impact the quality, efficiency, and profitability of the manufacturing, inventory, engineering, and production support operations.
  • Evaluate and recommend transformation projects/programs providing improvements in key areas (e.g. Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost).
  • Leverage lean manufacturing, six sigma, business process management/reengineering, and process improvement tools to drive transformation.
  • Mobilize transformation teams and support groups to streamline processes.
  • Analyze data collected from sensors on the production floor for real-time visibility of manufacturing assets.
  • Manage multiple projects with dynamic shifting priorities and targets.
  • Implement digital technologies to increase automation and improve production.
  • Develop tools for performing predictive and prescriptive maintenance (PdM/RxM) to minimize equipment downtime and increase production rates.
  • Set ambitious world class standards that are measured, monitored and achievable.
  • Act as a mentor for transformation leadership, supervisory staff and frontline personnel.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Data Science, Supply Chain Management, or Equivalent Degree.
  • Current Six Sigma Black/Green Belt, Project Management Professional (PMP), or Lean Certification a plus.

Professional experience:

  • 8 - 10 years of successful transformation leadership with demonstrable tangible financial benefit.
  • Demonstrated successful project management experience and business acumen.
  • Demonstrated experience with ensuring effective change management, development and execution.
  • Ability to establish self as credible leader and partner with site leadership as a trusted member of staff.
  • Humble: respectful, receptive, agile, eager to learn.
  • Transparent: shares critical information, speaks with candor, contributes constructively.
  • Focused: quick learner, strategically prioritizes work, committed.

  • Fosters an environment that raises performance expectations and inspires the team to rethink what's possible
  • Ability to analyze data, multitask and problem solve in a fast-paced challenging environment.
  • Experience with Apache Spark, Hadoop, Power BI, Python, R, SAP, SQL, and/or Tableau a plus.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

Physical requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, talk, and/or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
