In regards to on-site productivity, customers have expressed the desire to make machinery easier for operators to control and to introduce machinery that operates autonomously.

The AHS solution is at the vanguard of mining technology proving to be a reliable and cost effective solution for fleet management and optimisation, delivering safety and productivity in complex mining environments without requiring a truck operator. Hitachi Construction Machinery currently supports successfully AHS operations in NSW, Australia in a multi-level support operation that involves our factory engineers and our Dealer's team, which has been delivering reliable and innovative support to Customers in country for 73 years.

About the Opportunity

We are pleased to work with Maules Creek Coal Mine to deliver an Autonomous Haul Truck Solution (AHS) project which is enhancing safety, operations and productivity. Therefore, we are currently recruiting for an AHS technician to join our team of industry specialists to deliver this exciting and innovative project. Reporting to the AHS Site Manager, this role will be a 6/6 working with an experienced, international team of experts, providing support, centered on troubleshooting and fault rectification, on-board software updates and component and electrical installation of the autonomous system on-board mobile equipment, and radio systems.

In this role you will:

  • Ensure high availability of key mining assets by performing inspections, repairs, and replacement to faulty equipment in a timely manner;
  • Provide hands on first level support for repair and maintenance of the autonomous on-board hardware, including calibration of certain autonomous hardware devices as per factory procedures when necessary;
  • Provide hands on Machine and infrastructure autonomous technology build, set-up and test commissioning;
  • Collect system data logs and machine / site information, performing initial issue investigation and escalating to second and third level support investigation when required;
  • Correspond to customer via ticket system as first response to incidents, performing the triage of issues to be escalated to next level of support.

The essential job requirements:

  • Demonstrated windows-based IT systems knowledge.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Hands on experience with tools for hardware and cabling repairs.
  • Experience with troubleshooting machine on-board systems.
  • Experience in virtualization solutions (i.e. VMWare).
  • Trade qualifications or experience in Information Systems or a technology-related field, auto-electrical, communications, electronics, or IT.
  • Driver's License

The desirable job requirements:

  • Understanding of wireless (WI-FI/LTE) networking principles.
  • Previous experience working in a mining or heavy industry.
  • Experience with a Fleet Management systems i.e. MineStar, Modular, Wenco or similar.
  • Experience with two-way radio systems.
  • Experience with Service Desk ticketing system.
  • Working at Heights and EWP Tickets.
