Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Service Engineer in Washington, DC/Hagerstown, MD areas. who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic.

As Service Engineer the candidate will work alongside to Design and Manufacturing as well as Customers and Vendors Field Engineers. The candidate must demonstrate passion for innovation and understanding of various engineering systems. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Interface with Direct Manager, Field Engineers and Technicians during the daily activities ongoing on the railcars Depot.
  • Monitor the Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety (RAMS) of the systems during the commissioning and warranty periods, publishing monthly reports until the reliability, availability, and maintainability criteria are met.
  • Develop, update, and maintain a database of the failures occurred during the revenue service.
  • Perform RAMS analysis.
  • Interface with Design and Manufacturing Engineers in the analysis of the failure and research of root cause.
  • Contributing to the assessment of the RAMS performance and to the upstream identification of the necessary RAMS requirements to ensure the achievement of the Project RAMS targets
  • Develop and deliver technical training, testing and certification documents.
  • Having a pro-active challenging view on the RAMS data/results he/she handles to enhance the adequacy and consistency of the RAMS studies and requirements.  
  • Ensure the identification and analysis of non-conformities identified during validation.
  • Identify and select the required spare parts by using User Manuals and Illustrated Spare parts Catalog.
  • Review of Work breakdown structures and bill of material.
  • Identify needs of specific maintenance equipment and tooling.
  • Perform concurrent engineering design reviews and analysis to assure maintainability of product.
  • Provide efficient support to Engineering to improve the product and its reliability.
  • Follow direction of Direct Manager.
  • Adhere to company policies & procedures.
  • Maintain a positive rapport with the clients in relation to the Corporate Customer Care Policy

Qualifications:

  • 0-3 years of related engineering experience
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications
  • Experience with mechanical/electrical maintenance process.
  • Strong communication skills with English language proficiency.
  • Ability to work effectively on cross-functional teams and interface with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Time management skill; sense of priorities; structured and organized with hands-on approach.
  • Ability to gather and analyze data and to work with figures.
  • Solid judgement along with decision making skills.
  • Strong proactive capabilities.

Education:

•             Associates Degree or Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Technical, Education, Electronics Engineering is Preferred
