Sullair LLC has an opening for a Mechanical Engineer – PLM Support in Michigan City, IN.

Supports production and field in troubleshooting mechanical design-related issues, improving First Past Yield and production throughput. Drives mechanical-related cost reduction efforts. Evaluates mechanical systems, products, components and applications by designing and conducting research to drive incremental improvements in existing products. Design air compressor subsystem packages to meet performance and cost objectives. Includes engineering development of compressor subsystems and supporting components. Responsible for the creation and improvement of assembly drawings, sub assembly and component design, detail drawings using computer aided designing software’s (CAD) like Unigraphics NX and PLM software like ECTR. Execution of engineered orders with unique customer requirements such as cold weather packaging, high ambient conditions, variable speed drive, Starter type, motor options etc. Creates as build modules/drawings specific to customer requirements. Addresses customer queries for new requirements as well as modifications on existing machines in terms of cooling, pressure ratings, discharge volume, etc. Designs and develops various systems like frame, cooling, powertrain, canopy, electrical for both industrial and portable compressors. Performs maintenance troubleshoots and makes minor improvement to ECTR. Supports NX CAD Integration with ECTR. Develops custom SAP Queries and Reports to support end users.

Must possess at least a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related field and at least 5 years of progressive work experience in a Mechanical Design Engineer and PLM role. Must also possess the following: at least 5 years of design experience using CAD Software and PLM; at least 5 years of applied mechanical engineering experience in a design of compressor or industrial machinery industry; at least 5 years of experience in the design of mechanical and pneumatic/electrical control systems used in air compressor products; at least 3 years of experience SAP/PLM Customization experience; at least 3 years of experience with ECTR Customization; and at least 3 years of experience with SAP Data Migration using Winshuttle tool.
