Hitachi Rail STS USA, Inc. seeks a Senior Automation Testing & Commissioning Engineer in Pittsburgh, PA, to Determine the test objectives and test strategies for medium to high complexity projects. Specific responsibilities include: (i) author the test plan based upon the department standards and project requirements needs; (ii) provide feedback to multiple scrum teams regularly and help them with root cause analysis of escaped defects to customer site; (iii) ensure and provide the definition, organization and execution of the test commissioning activities; (iv) plan test activities within the project schedule and estimate the hours required to conduct all test and quality assurance activities; (v) identify the scope of the testing required for each release and identify any challenges; (vi) create test plans, protocols, procedures, and cases for each release, and assure all test documentation is complete and up to date prior to the start of the test cycle; (vii) execute tests according to defined test plans, procedures and test cases; (viii) ensure planning and execution of automation; (ix) drive quality through both software and process improvements by partnering with our development teams to drive engineering excellence throughout the organization; (x) assist with the classification, management and resolution of identified software defects during testing; (xi) monitor test progress and provide regular progress reports and status to project team during test cycle; (xii) ensure delivery of test and commissioning documents on time; (xiii) provide reporting of non-compliances and delays of commissioning activities to cross functional teams; (xiv) participate in program, design and document reviews (including requirements reviews) and help identify gaps and resolve them accordingly on a timely basis; and (xv) at the end of a test cycle publish quality metrics of test results on a regular intervals.
Must have a bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Applications, Applied Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology, and five (5) years of experience in a senior software quality assurance role.
Must have experience with the following: (1) two years of experience as a project test lead; (2) verification and validation of safety critical applications with special emphasis on software V & V processes in compliance with national and international standards for safety; (3) creating Software Verification and Validation Test Plan, developing and executing Test Strategy, and planning and execution of commissioning activities; (4) reviewing Software Requirements and their design implementation, authoring test procedures and ensure peer review of those procedures, and executing Test procedures per implementation; (5) software defect management, managing test reporting, test schedules and risk analysis; (6) managing software documentation and testing documentation lifecycle by using Siemens Team Center PLM tool, IBM® Rational® ClearCase®, and IBM® Rational Team Concert™; (7) managing the System Requirements lifecycle and guarantee requirements coverage and mapping to test cases by using Requirement Traceability Matrix and IBM® Rational® DOORS®; (8) managing and driving the execution of automation tests; (9) performing quality control and quality assurance activities, Verification and Validation, and managing of testing related activities including test planning, test execution and reporting; (10) managing software defects/changes tracking by using test management tool IBM® Rational® Quality Manager; and (11) ensuring that test equipment and test environment are defined, constructed, verified and available prior to testing.
Must have knowledge of the following: Linux or UNIX operating system; Basic Linux commands; Shell and Python scripting; File Navigation, Manipulation, File Transfer and permissions; basic networking concepts; Serial Communication Serial, TCP/IP, Modbus Protocol Interfaces; Network Data analyzer.
