You will be part of the Business Unit Grid Integration in Vaesteraas. We provide FACTS (Flexible AC Transmission Systems) technologies that enable more power and control in the existing grid. This is key technology at the heart of the ongoing energy revolution enabling the rapid integration of renewables. Responsibilities: Focus of the thesis is on investigating the feasibility of using SiC devices for high power applications You will be simulating a modular multilevel power electronic converter; the converter comprises full-bridge submodules After modelling and simulation of the power electronic building blocks, the ideas may be tested on downscaled hardware prototypes for validating the new concepts Work in close collaboration with Hitachi Energy engineers Living Hitachi Energy Leadership Pillars as a leader to engage, develop, grow our people to enable connection to purpose, people, potential and performance Your background: We are looking for you who are studying a university master program within electrical engineering, preferably in the power electronics field. Familiarity with the following items is advantageous: MATLAB/Simulink Linear control systems Microcontroller programming Power electronic circuits (especially modular multilevel converters) PCB design
