Description

We are looking for a dedicated Mechanical Lead Engineer at Hitachi Energy, Transformers business in Vaasa. This is an opportunity to work with engineering challenges related to transformers in offshore wind energy generation. In this position, you will lead a small team, responsible of the new transformer development, from the prototype phase to series manufacturing. You will also be involved through the whole life cycle of the product. This role also includes collaboration with customers and coordination of design engineers, structural analysts, and other stakeholders.

Your responsibilities

  • Mechanical design of offshore wind turbine transformers
  • Leading of project engineering team, including subcontractors
  • Coordination of structural analyses
  • Design failure mode and effect analysis (DFMEA)
  • Representing mechanical engineering in project meetings with customers, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Oversee the design process according to APQP4Wind and participate in PPAP
     

Your background

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in mechanical engineering
  • Several years of experience in mechanical engineering
  • Deep knowledge in mechanical engineering as well as in manufacturing techniques and material technology
  • Skills in 3D CAD program, preferably Creo Parametric
  • Good understanding in FEM including static, fatigue, modal and vibration analyses
  • You shall be self-guided, systematic, analytic, organized and accurate in your way of working
  • Strong coordination skills
  • Strong verbal and written skills in Finnish and English. Other language skills are considered as an advantage
  • You will work independently and as a leader of a small team
  • Capable of interacting with people from diverse backgrounds and skillsets
