Hitachi Energy has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and ambitious engineer that wants to develop and grow in the area of Substation Automation Systems with a focus on Control and Protection (i.e. bay level scope). 

You will be part of our growing team of project engineers that are globally involved in the execution of large substation automation projects and will have the chance to contribute to our company’s vision of advancing a sustainable energy future. 

In your role as project engineer for Control & Protection, you will be working closely together with our project managers, lead engineers and SCADA engineers throughout the base design, detail engineering, testing and commissioning phase of the project. In an initial phase, your project focus will be more on our growing domestic Swiss market, while also having the opportunity of being involved in international projects.

Tasks: 

Within your projects, mainly located in Switzerland, you will: 

  • develop together with the lead engineer the protection and control concepts for (sub-)transmission systems in close collaboration with the customer 

  • be responsible for the configuration of Protection and Control IEDs for (sub-)transmission substations in line with customer specification.  

  • be responsible for the system testing of the Substation Automation Bay level scope at our testing facilities in Baden, Switzerland and present the system in front of our customer during the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) 

  • for projects located in Switzerland, have the opportunity to be directly involved in the commissioning phase of the project. 

 

Requirements: 

  • You have an educational background in electrical engineering or automation, preferably with a focus on Power Systems. 

  • German language skills are a must; other languages are a plus. 

  • Preferably, you have prior knowhow in power systems protection and control, substation automation systems and/or network architectures. 

  • Some prior knowhow of PCM600, E3 series and/or Omicron is a plus.

  • You are analytical, have a pro-active communication style and are a team player. 

  • You are focused on efficiency, while maintaining high standards towards Quality and Safety in your line of work 

  • The position may require some travelling to customer sites in Switzerland (~10%) 

Notes: we are open for both entry-level as well as more experienced engineers. The rank of the position will be adjusted as per experience from the respective candidate. 

 You are fluent in German; English is an advantage.
