The Hitachi Energy Indian Operations Center (INOPC) is a competence center with around 1500 skilled engineers who focus on tendering, engineering, planning, procurement, functional system testing, installation supervision and commissioning. However, over the last decade, it has evolved to become the largest engineering hub. The India Operations Centre is a key aspect of the Power Grids business Power Up transformation program. The Hitachi Energy Indian Operations Center team at Chennai supports Hitachi Energy’s units in more than 40 countries across a wide portfolio of all the four business units in Power Grid business. To date, the team has executed engineering and commissioning for projects in more than 80 countries.

Mission Statement:

• The Senior Infrastructure Specialist - Linux is responsible for providing Linux technical support across all levels of established client Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and upholding the technical standards and procedures within the Linux Administration team. The support scope includes on-prem as well as cloud deployments.

• This role will act predominantly as L3 & L4 support specialist providing support and guidance for any ongoing operations, projects, roll outs, deployments and upgrades. Responsible to ensure high standard of service to potential and existing clients is maintained through adherence to documented standard and procedures.

Your Responsibilities:

• Participate in existing operations as well as projects around Linux Infrastructure that may include Capacity Planning, Performance Management, Solutioning, Architecture Design, Re-Architecture, Automation and KTLO.

•  Make recommendations as appropriate to client stakeholders for capacity concerns. Assist in the implementation of recommendations.

• Own and manage the overall patching for all the Linux systems including regular/ad hoc patches.

• Periodic review of the overall Linux security posture and take necessary actions to address the vulnerabilities and gaps in the environment.

• Own and participate the RCA process for Linux environment and take corrective actions to avoid similar outages in future and improve the overall uptime of systems.

• Partner with other cross functional teams for any new project, upgrade or deployment to ensure a smooth delivery and execution overall.

• Periodic review of the entire Linux Infrastructure to identify any gaps, single point of failures, repetitive tasks and propose enhancements and automations to reduce human effort and improve the availability and stability of the systems.

Your Background:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.

• Minimum 10 years in supporting a mid to large Linux environment (on-prem / cloud).

• In depth experience and expertise around various Linux/Unix flavors including Redhat, Oracle Linux, HP UX and CentOS.

• Solid hands-on experience in UNIX Shell, PowerShell, Perl, Python.

• Experience in managing operations in Azure Cloud including monitoring and backup.

• Well verse with various enterprise monitoring and devops tool chain Nagios, OpenView,. OpsGenie, Jira Prometheus, Grafana, Jenkins, Docker Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, Elastic Search.
