We are looking for a research scientist with expertise in power systems control and communication to join our team in Mannheim/DE. You will join a dynamic, motivated and creative team with a broad range of experience and competences. As part of our team, you will combine theory with practice, creating, testing and validating new technologies to enable the energy transition.

Propose, contribute to and lead industrial research projects in the domain of power systems control and communication for the next generations of products and systems for power grids, green energy and related fields.
Serve as the power system control expert in interdisciplinary teams of power systems, mathematical optimization, data science, AI, and SW experts.
Create and work on ideas and concepts of new approaches to run and exploit control of power systems solutions with business impact, turn them into prototypes and verify them.
Build your network in the company and actively distribute your knowledge and expertise.
Collaborate with our global team of researchers in Hitachi Energy Research, our business units, universities, and industrial partners.
Disseminate your results in technical reports, patent applications, and scientific publications.
MSc plus equivalent industrial experience or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Control and Automation or any related field.
Expertise in power systems control and management systems (e.g., EMS, DMS, GMS, MMS), as well as high-performance software architecture for such systems, including information modeling (e.g., CIM, 61850)
Proficiency in programming: Python or similar high-level programming language and C++, C#, java
Working experience in mathematical optimization and/or AI/ML.
Knowledge of third-party funding (e.g., EU grants) or larger R&D projects as well as project management experience is an advantage.
Excellent leadership and communication skills, team player attitude, initiative, and creativity.
Fluency in English, written and spoken. German will be considered as an advantage.
