Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Business Developement Manager who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Italy.

Business Developement Manager

  • Rail Control division, Group Sales, Business Development, Market Intelligence and Commercial Analysis team
  • Global position with preferred location in Italy
  • Willingness to travel 30% of the time.


  • Ensure the execution of the business development, market intelligence and commercial analysis activities in order to achieve the company and the division mid-term plan objectives

Accountabilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure collection and analysis of the relevant market information, megatrends, political environment, competitor profile (market & competitive intelligence)
  • Ensure steady update on opportunities for all regional markets, including specific market trends, customer needs (business development)
  • Collaborate with the other Sales departments within the division: Sales Governance team and Regional Sales teams
  • Implement and maintain business development and market intelligence tools and methodology, including market & target pricing, lessons learnt, bid documentation improvement, best practices etc
  • Liaise with Digital & Lumada Solutions department, and both Rail Control and Vehicles Engineering and portfolio departments
  • Support digital sales activities, focusing on Asset Management, Smart Ticketing / MaaS and Traffic Flow Management solutions
  • Liaise with the Marketing/Branding and Communication department to prepare exhibitions, industry trade and fairs
  • Liaise with other Hitachi Group divisions & subsidiaries (Hitachi Vantara, Hitachi Energy, GlobalLogic etc.)

Education Required:

  • Bachelor degree (Engineering, Business School).
  • Certification in Business Management (Master, MBA, exec MBA) is a plus
  • 2-5 years+ of working experience.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Customer orientation and results driven.
  • Global Mindset and working in an international distributed environment
  • Experience in Mass Transit / Signalling / Digital Solutions / O&M Services
  • Experience in Sales and/or Business Development
  • Experience in Marketing and/or Communication is a plus


  • English, Italian: Fluent (written & spoken).
