Description

The Sales Supervisor will oversee and lead the activities of the Field Sales and Service Departments.

  • Hires and trains regional and local sales engineers and technicians.
  • Organizes and oversees the schedules, territories, and performance of regional and local sales engineers and technicians.
  • Conducts performance evaluations.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership to the sales and service teams with regular cadence to provide direction.
  • Provides guidance and encouragement to the sales team to ensure daily, weekly, and monthly activities and quota achievement for each product discipline.
  • Reviews and analyzes sales and operational records and reports; uses data to forecast sales.
  • Assigns and or adjusts territories and quotas for sales team.
  • Travels with sales team regularly.  Consults with potential customers to understand their current needs and market trends.
  • Resolves customer complaints, staffing problems, and other issues that may impede sales efficiency.
  • Collaborates with senior leadership on development of sales quotas and strategies.
  • Monitors and controls expenses.
  • Acts as company representative at trade association meetings and trade shows.
  • Works with local service manager to coordinate trials (loaners and demonstrations)
  • Coordinate training activities for sales and service teams.
  • Actively work several house accounts.
  • Other tasks related to stocked products such as IJP and inverter as directed by management.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent sales and customer service skills with proven negotiation skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce.com, and or related software.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy in processing material in and out of the warehouse.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to travel by air on occasion.
  • Must be able to drive for several hours on occasion.
  • Ability to lift 60 lbs. of demonstration equipment.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Business Administration, or related field, OR
  • Comparable record of sales leadership experience required.
  • At least 5 years of sales experience required.

For California only (as required by California’s Pay Transparency for Pay Equity Act (SB 1162): The expected salary for this position in our California office is $106,000-$132,000.  Pay is determined based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, depth of experience in the practice area.  Employees are eligible to participate in Hitachi America’s variable pay program, subject to the program’s conditions and restrictions.
