Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated  FUNCTIONAL DESIGN ENGINEER who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Genoa, Italy.

Accountabilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for functional design for complex and medium-sized signalling projects, in accordance with industry and business standards and processes. It will provide expert guidance and tutoring on functional design.

The main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Ensure the delivery of complex and medium functional projects.
Ensure a thorough knowledge of industry standards (e.g. UNISIG, CENELEC, AREMA, IEEE, IPC, etc.), mainly oriented towards ERTMS/ETCS systems.
He is responsible for the production of the functional design documentation, including requirements, the verification of interfaces and schematic plans.
Ensure project compliance through traceability of requirements
Ensure that functional documents produced are issued and checked in accordance with business processes.
Participate in or conduct audits to identify design errors, inefficiencies in processes and tools, and implement corrective and improvement actions.

Required Skills/ Knowledge

Experience as a Signalling Design Engineer in Railway Projects.
Experience in designing and providing communication systems and integration with signalling;
Experience in implementing engineering activities for complex signalling systems such as ETCS projects;
Management of the project;
Demonstration of effective communication and teamwork skills.
Demonstration of problem solving skills
