Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Senior Telecom Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Genoa, Italy.

Mission

The position is for a Senior Telecom Engineer to work on tender, design and project implementation tasks of Telecommunication Systems such as radio (GSM-R), Multi Service Network (IP, MPLS, SDH), Telephone System, Voice Recording System, Master Clock, Fiber Optic backbone and Public Information System.

Accountabilities

• Supplier management: purchase technical specification preparation, supplier assessment, periodical meetings, design verification.
• Relationship with the customer: technical presentation, technical meetings.
• Interface with all internal functions: bidding, sales, procurement, supply chain, project management for the completion of every phases of the bids and projects.
• Contract requirements management.
• High level design documentation for communication projects.
• Verification of the basic and detailed design documentation prepared from the supplier.
• Develop a high level bill of material defining the typology, the model and the HW/SW configuration, including the requested network management systems.
• Management of the testing plans.
• Management of the site activity carried out by the supplier: site survey, test and commissioning of the Telecom Systems, site acceptance test and site integration test.
• Analyse technical specifications and prepare technical documentation for bids
• Liaising with internal and external customers.
• Maintain an open action items list and produce effective reporting.

Required skills/knowledge/experience

• Knowledge of Radio Systems: GSM-R.
• Knowledge of backbone transmission systems: IP/MPLS, MPLS/TP and SDH.
• Knowledge of Physical Optical Fibre systems.
• Knowledge of IP networking.
• Knowledge of public information systems (PIS).
• Knowledge of public address systems (PAS).
• Basic knowledge in autocad design.
• From 2 to 5 years expertise in the role.
• English proficiency.

Desired skills/knowledge

• Knowledge of VoIP telephone systems.
• Knowledge of Voice recording System.
• Knowledge of Radio Systems: WiFI.
• Knowledge of Master Clock Systems.

Education/Qualification

Master's Degree (Engineering) or Equivalent Technical Background.

Languages
Fluent in English.
