Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Smart Factory - Operational Technology Engineer (OT/IoT solutions) responsible for the development of the innovative solutions (OT/IoT) in according to business requirements and Smart Factory strategy, through the partnership and cooperation with external suppliers and internal manufacturing stakeholders.

The position is based in Naples - IT

Accountabilities

  • Leads digital projects through the ability to vision the end-to-end OT/IoT system architecture
  • Participate in the requirements analysis, process definition and solution design
  • Design digital solutions taking into account already existing IT architecture and business requirements
  • Develop solution prototype (hardware & software)
  • Consult on standards for engineering, delivery, technology selection and design
  • Manage data acquisition systems to connect digital manufacturing assets and IoT devices through standard or proprietary protocols
  • Knowledge of IIoT, PLCs, HMI, Industrial Networks and industrial Software
  • Technology enthusiasm, enjoys talking about innovation and always keeps up with the latest technology news
  • Passion for tinkering, prototyping, and keeping pace with industry trends in IoT
  • Have the ability to quickly understand the business context and establish solid relationships with business stakeholders Have strong communication skills and able to exercise initiative and think innovatively
  • Are effective at organizing and planning, with the ability to adapt to changing situations and reorganize tasks, people and priorities
  • Lead, consult and communicate with team members involved in the project
  • View team collaboration as instrumental to achieving success
  • Approach situations with an open and curious mind, taking on challenges with an eye for opportunity

Required Skills/Knowledge

  • International standards for OT technology connecting (i.e. network protocols, OPC-UA, ISA95/Purdue Model, ISA99, EC 62443, NERC CIP, or ICS/Operational technology standards and global regulatory requirements)
  • Understanding of OT networks, protocols to interface with assets and devices
  • Understanding of OT security, cyber security and related challenges
  • knowledge of hardware development and System-on-a-Chip (SoC) integrated circuit
  • Knowledge of commoditized micro-controller platforms, such as Arduino, or single-board-computers like the Raspberry Pi
  • Application design and development skills
  • Business intelligence and data analytics
  • Machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) skills
  • OT/IT governance, policies and procedures
  • Utility protocols and configuration tools (e.g. DNP3)
  • Experience in developing automated solutions and engineering
  • Knowledge of Smart Manufacturing, Factory of the Future and Industry 4.0

Education/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree level (ideally in Electrical or Computer Science), or equivalent combination of education and experience strong technical know-how and experience within OT/IoT environments
  • Project management and delivery of solutions across OT/IoT environments
  • Ability to define and deliver solutions to internal customers achieving excellent satisfaction
  • Strong problem solving and conceptual thinking capabilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to create and work in virtual teams
  • Ability to build external and internal relationships and partnerships
  • Ability to comprehend and manage complex environments and business interactions

Languages
Fluent Knowledge of Italian and English is required (written & spoken).
