Senior Electrical Engineer

Hitachi Energy is hiring for a Senior level Electrical Engineer in our Raleigh, NC location. This position will report into the North America Transformer Engineering Hub. Relocation assistance is available.

Your responsibilities

• Work independently with little direction on Power Transformer Electrical Engineering design tools and process improvements within the North America factories

• Generate ideas that drive customer value and contribute to the cost out targets

• Idea generation may be performed individually, with the Design to Value team, or as part of cross functional workshops/kaizen events

• Develop detailed business cases and implementation plans

• Present business cases to cross functional teams (engineering, marketing, operations/manufacturing, supply chain and quality) to obtain project approval and ensure proper change management is followed

• Provide support with deviation requests, alternate material authorization, technical review of supplier quotations

• Develop and improve design tools and design concepts which reduce design/manufacturing/assembly time, improve quality

• Support factories with investigations, design reviews and DFMEA's

• Work with Global Development teams on future development request and clarifications

• Support the training and implementation of Global Design Tools and integration with local tools

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and 5+ years of experience

• Candidate must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States

• Power Transformer design experience is required

• Production Process experience is preferred

• Experience working with SAP preferred

• Proven record of executing and delivering Improvement projects and cost reductions

• Six Sigma Yellow / Green Belt and Lean manufacturing experience a plus

• Project Experience using Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) methodology a plus
