Hitachi Energy is seeking a Global Supplier Quality and Development Engineer (SQE) for their transformer business unit. The SQE role is to support the business growth and development of the global supply chain and ensure quality and sustainability compliance of very critical raw materials. The role involves: - auditing and qualifying the suppliers for the category, - monitoring the performance and initiating the performance improvement activities, - working closely with the category managers globally to contribute to the sourcing strategy from quality perspective, - leading the resolution of the critical quality issues of the global suppliers, - leading the critical parts/materials approval process standardization at global level The SQE will be reporting to the Global Supply Quality and Development manager and work in close collaboration with Global Category Manager for Oils, Chemicals, and Insulation raw materials. It is an excellent opportunity for you if you can bring to us knowledge in the chemicals processing industry and you like to grow in the supplier quality area and develop global business experience working for a leader in its field. The preferred location is one of the countries within Europe where is transformer production facility of Hitachi Energy such as Germany (Bad Honnef, Brilon), Italy (Monselice), Spain (Zaragoza), Poland (Lodz), Finland (Vaasa) or Sweden (Ludvika). Flexible location and remote work possibility in Europe can also be an option.
Supplier Qualification/Assessment (On-site Audits): You plan and conduct the required supplier on-site audits, and verify the effective closure of corrective action plan items by the supplier side
Materials Qualification: You lead the production part approval process for the new supplier parts/materials including the coordination of trial parts and first article inspection, trial production with the factory quality
Supplier Non-Conformity Resolution: You manage the non-conformity resolution process with the suppliers in case of the escalated technical issues from the factories and ensure the effective root-cause analysis and the countermeasure implementation by the suppliers
Supplier Performance Monitoring: You monitor and consolidate the supplier delivery and quality KPI's, the critical non-conformities escalated from the factories while identifying the top concern suppliers within the region or specific category
Supplier Performance Improvement: You take care of the supplier performance improvement actions for the targeted suppliers to meet the customer and the factories' expectations (following DMAIC and/or 8D methodology)
Interface with Other Functions and the suppliers: You closely collaborate with the Category teams to support the implementation of Category strategy and function as liaison between SCM, Technology, Quality and Operations and the Suppliers to identify improvement areas internally and externally
Bachelor's and/or master's degree in one of the disciplines: Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Polymer Science, or Chemistry (or similar)
You have 7+ years of production, quality assurance or supplier development experience in the chemicals industry
You have strong technical problem-solving skills and in-depth understanding of quality control/assurance methods in the chemical production environment
You can function as subject matter expert within the cross-functional team
You have strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills and ability to create a collaborative environment for accomplishing project objectives
You are willing to travel up to 30-50% of your time and are fluent in English both written and spoken
You have preferably experience with auditing in continuous production processes and are familiar with Quality and Continuous Improvement tools and processes (e.g., Kaizen, DMAIC, A3, 8D, 5Why Analysis)
You have experience with APQP/PPAP, P-FMEA, Process Control Plan, Statistical Process Control, and inspection test plan creation
You are familiar with ISO-9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards (external auditor certification is an advantage)
