Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Senior Telecom Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Genoa, Turin or Naples, Italy.

Mission

The position is for a Senior Telecom Engineer to work on tender, design and project implementation tasks of Telecommunication Systems such as IP Networks, radio (GSM-R), Multi Service Network (MPLS, SDH), Telephone System, Voice Recording System, Master Clock, Fiber Optic backbone and Public Information System.

Accountabilities

• Design the network architecture in order to fulfil the contractual requirements.
• Develop technical design documentation for communication projects.
• Develop a bill of material defining the typology, the model and the HW/SW configuration, including the requested network management systems.
• Supplier management: purchase technical specification preparation, supplier assessment, periodical meetings, verification of the design documentation prepared by the supplier, supervision of the site activities carried out by the supplier (site survey, test and commissioning, site acceptance test and site integration test).
• Relationship with the customer: technical presentation, technical meetings.
• Liaising with all internal functions: engineering team, bidding, sales, procurement, supply chain, project management for the completion of every phases of the bids and projects.
• Contract requirements management.
• Management and implementation of the test and commissioning phases.
• Perform IP network troubleshooting on site and remotely.
• Analyse technical specifications and prepare technical documentation for bids.
• Maintain an open action items list and produce effective reporting

Required skills/knowledge/experience

• Knowledge of IP networking, LAN e WAN, layer 2 and layer 3
• Knowledge of backbone transmission systems: IP/MPLS, MPLS/TP and SDH.
• To be able to configure network equipment layer 2 and layer 3 like Cisco and Huawei.
• Knowledge of Radio Systems: GSM-R.
• Knowledge of Physical Optical Fibre systems.
• From 2 to 5 years expertise in the role.

Desired skills/knowledge

• Knowledge of VoIP telephone systems.
• Knowledge of Radio Systems: WiFI.
• Knowledge of Master Clock Systems.
• Knowledge of Voice recording System.
• Basic knowledge in autocad design.
• Knowledge of Public Information System.

Education/Qualification

Master's Degree (Engineering) or Equivalent Technical Background.

Languages
Fluent in English.
