Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Associate Wayside & On Board Service Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Genoa or Piossasco (To).

The resource will be part of the On Board team whose purpose is to provide remote technical assistance to Customers in relation to On Board signalling systems, all in accordance with the contractual requirements. The role to be filled will be within a team in which to share work and knowledge. This team could provide 24/7 support service coverage, whereby resources can be arranged with an adequate on-call schedule to deliver the required service.

Accountabilities

  • Periodically downloads on board system log files;
  • Analyzes log files to troubleshoot any problem or to provide predictive maintenance;
  • Completes assigned operational, equipment failure, safety and other reports as required;
  • Participates in training programs as required;
  • May work variable hours;
  • Performs related duties as required;
  • Provide troubleshooting techniques to assist maintenance staff and field personnel;
  • Establishes maintenance work priorities;
  • Investigate and report Operations incidents and accidents;
  • Participates in technical tables with the customer;

Required Skills/Knowledge

  • Knowledge of Windows operating systems and the Microsoft Office package;
  • Programming knowledge and HW infrastructure knowledge;
  • Troubleshooting skills;
  • Ability to work in a team;
  • Interest in learning new technologies/knowledge;
  • Ability to interface with the customer and with other corporate entities;
  • Availably for national and international trave.

Education/Qualifications

Engineering or diploma Degree or equivalent technical background

Languages

Fluent Knowledge of English (written & spoken)
