Supply Engineer Specialist

Supply Engineer Specialist positions offered by Hitachi Energy USA Inc. (Mount Pleasant, PA). Drive SCM knowledge (market, suppliers, and external intelligence) into the development process to optimize with engineering cost, quality, and technology. Act as interface between the Technology Project Team, the Local SCM teams, the Product Group SCM team and the Category Managers, ensuring that project information is adequately shared between the Project Team and the various SCM teams. Responsible for initial cost and quality estimates and achieving product cost and quality targets. Select, with the support of local SCM team and Business Unit Category Managers, the prototype suppliers and final production material suppliers, in line with product cost requirements, future product footprint requirements and SCM strategies, while ensuring sustainable quality and cost. Optimize the cost at all stages of the development projects including testing. Compares and develops the best value chain for the new product considering packaging cost, transportation, and logistics cost, import duties and currency risk.

Requires a bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or a related field and 5 years of experience in the position offered or 5 years of experience providing engineering support for new product development for switchgears or automobiles. Also requires 5 years of experience: reading mechanical drawings; utilizing fabrication and manufacturing processes to assist with negotiations and specifications development for casting, forging and machining parts, electrical components, insulators, and surface treatment processes by working with suppliers; utilizing fabrication and sheetmetal processes; and managing projects. In lieu of a bachelor’s and 5 years of experience, employer will accept 7 years of experience as stated. Experience may be, but need not be, acquired concurrently.
