Summary:

Hitachi America, Ltd. located in Santa Clara, CA has an opening for a Manager, Corporate Finance & Accounting Department.  This position is hybrid and the person will be responsible for the following:

Major Responsibilities:

Corporate Reporting

  • Prepare monthly report package of financial results for senior management and parent company

  • Perform monthly Balance Sheet and P&L flux analysis as well as various ad hoc analyses and provide commentary for upper management

  • Prepare monthly report and analysis of CF and CCC (Cash Conversion Cycle) for upper management

  • Communicate with divisional and subsidiaries’ contacts (mainly accounting function) to obtain better understanding about operation results for financial analysis

  • Review the reporting package data on a quarterly basis for group financial consolidation of parent company (Hitachi group consolidation purpose), including answering any questions that may arise from the reporting package

  • Compile/review US consolidated financial report for Corporate Tax Group to support consolidated tax return

  • Continuously evaluate and enhance processes, tools and systems to drive efficiency, accuracy and scalability.  Implement best practices and automation solutions where appropriate

Budgeting

  • Coordinate request and collection of budget/forecast data (P&L, B/S, CF) and compile/review data from divisions.

  • Communicate with subsidiaries on requirement for US tax consolidation and compile/analyze subsidiaries’ budget for tax provision calculation

Accounting and Audit

  • Monitor and assist the company closing process (monthly/quarterly/semiannual/annual).  Prepare journal entries for special items

  • Perform/Assist in technical accounting research for proper accounting treatments

  • Draft technical accounting position memorandum around transactions and special projects

  • Assist in drafting and reviewing the accounting policy manual

  • Identify and report potential exposure items for the senior finance management including CFO

  • Perform technical research and create position memo

  • Support external audit between external auditor, HQ functions, divisions, and subsidiaries quarterly

  • Participate and support internal audit (every three/four year)

  • Work closely with Corporate Tax, Credit, and Treasury groups for proper accounting treatment

Compliance and Others

  • Coordinate Insurance administration works including annual renewal process

  • Ensure reporting internal controls in compliance with JSOX

  • Monitor IFRS to identify any potential impact of new pronouncements

  • Participate in special projects as required

Skills/Knowledge Required: 

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Accounting/Finance is required

  • CPA is highly desired

  • A minimum 5 to 10 years’ experience in accounting area

  • Comprehensive accounting background with strong, forecasting, budgeting and financial analysis skills

  • Experience in financial consolidation is highly desired

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Power Automate, Power Query and Power BI)

  • Knowledge and experience of ERP systems.  Experience in SAP S4/HANA is plus

  • Strong technical and analytical skills including full knowledge of IFRS/GAAP are required

  • Excellent interpersonal skill

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Independent Self-starter is desired

  • Ability to handle multi-tasks, follow-up, prioritize, and meet deadlines

For California only (as required by California’s Pay Transparency for Pay Equity Act (SB 1162): The expected salary for this position in our California office is $120,000 - $150,000. Pay is determined based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, depth of experience in the practice area. Employees are eligible to participate in Hitachi America’s variable pay program, subject to the program’s conditions and restrictions.
