Primary Function:
Follow all safety and work procedures to successfully complete production and special testing of power bushings up to 230 kV (900 kV BIL) to ensure manufactured product meets design specifications and industry standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associates degree or two year certificate in Engineering Technology, Industrial Electricity, Electronics Technology or related field. Must be able to read and comprehend safety procedures, work instructions and assembly drawings. The ability to operate a computer and learn specialized programs as needed to perform job functions. Able to stand, walk, and/or climb on hard surfaces for up to 10 hours per day. Able to regularly pick up and manipulate up to 35 pounds safely.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two years of experience in product testing or quality assurance. Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and Window’s based programs.
Quality Standard:
Condenser bushings must be successfully tested to all applicable procedures and specifications to meet industry standards and customer requirements.
Quantity Standard:
Based on load plan and production schedule.
Environmental Conditions:
The workplace is well lit and climate controlled. It shall be kept organized, free of clutter, clean and free of all contaminants. Tester may come in contact with mineral oil, ethyl alcohol, isopropyl alcohol or other cleaning solvents.
Tools and Safety Equipment:
Steel toe shoes and safety glasses are required personal protection equipment. Hard hats are required in some areas. Standard and custom test equipment to perform withstand testing, measure power factor, capacitance and partial discharge. Other tools include transformers, vacuum pumps, lifting devices, overhead cranes, computer, tape measures, assorted hand tools, grounding wires, test leads, label printers, crimping tools, heat gun, laser nameplate engraver and other tools as necessary to complete assigned tasks. Written tools include procedures, assembly drawings and change notifications.
Material:
Bulk bushings, oil-filled and epoxy condenser bushings with porcelain or HTV silicone insulators, machined aluminum and copper components, glass and epoxy sight bowls, mineral oil, ethyl alcohol, isopropyl alcohol and cleaning solvents.
Direction of others:
Able to communicate test results and/or failure modes effectively to Supervisor, Design Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer or Quality Assurance personnel.
Direction Received
Reports to area Supervisor. Minimum supervision on routine work assignments. Receive technical instruction and/or support on non-standard assignments.
Training obligation:
Successful completion of safety, CPR, and first aid training as required by company policy. Continuous training on new equipment or new processes required to test power bushings and based upon additional assignments.
Other requirements:
Must be able to work first, second or third shift.
