Hitachi Energy has an exciting opportunity as a Service Engineer HVDC to work in Caithness area of Scotland you'll be reporting to the Service Manager and responsible for working primarily from the Spittal HVDC Converter Station located in the Caithness area of Scotland as well as other Hitachi Energy HVDC customer sites throughout the UK and Ireland primarily.
Your main duties will be to provide 1st line support along with maintenance & repair services for the CMS Long Term Service Agreement (LTSA). You will work closely with the existing Service Team to gain the competencies to provide 1st line support. This 1st line support will require 24/7 on-call on a 1week in 3 with a fast response time to site.
Flexible working hours will also be required for significant maintenance tasks on an impromptu basis as required. There will also be the chance to support the wider HVDC team as and when required by the needs of the business.
Responsibilities:
Deliver exceptionally high availability to the entire CMS system to Spittal HVDC Converter Station, by Halkirk, Spittal, KW12 6XA
Control and perform work activities on HV/LV electrical, instrumentation and mechanical systems.
Maintain the value and maximize the design life of the system.
Maintain a strong relationship with this valued customer.
To maintain a safe working environment for all site employees & mitigate the risks.
Ensure ethical behaviour in line with code of conduct.
Manage Health Safety and Environmental risks associated with the business unit.
Be part of the environment that allows all employees to develop and succeed.
Background:
A base location within 120-minute drive of Spittal HVDC Converter Station, by Halkirk, Spittal, KW12 6XA is a mandatory requirement.
Relevant trade qualifications in an engineering discipline e.g. electrician, instrumentation technician etc.
Experience in High Voltage power systems.
Maintenance / fault finding experience with items of High Voltage, Low Voltage equipment and mechanical systems.
Experience in delivering technical reports and fault analysis.
Experience working with maintenance management systems and completing all customer fault reports & commissioning documentation where required in a timely manner.
NEBOSH, National general certificate in occupational health and safety.
