We are looking for a Global Product Sustainability Specialist for the Transformers Business with expertise in environmental lifecycle impact analysis to join our team within one of our Technology Centers in Europe.

You will be at the heart of realizing Hitachi Energy’s purpose of advancing a more sustainable energy future for all by strengthening our capabilities on managing the sustainability impact of our offerings today and supporting defining our sustainability value proposition for mid- to long-term.

In this role, You will be part of a global, cross-functional community of dynamic, and engaged professionals with a broad range of experiences and backgrounds.

Your responsibilities:

• Take ownership, manage and further develop our internal Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) and Lifecycle environmental Impact Assessment (LCA) methodologies and tools for transformers, components, and services.

• Create further LCA models and analysis reports of new materials, processes, and technologies in support of product and services innovations.

• Assess and integrate sustainability data from the supply chain in the LCA models.

• Perform full-scale LCA and product carbon footprint studies for external, third -party verifications as required.

• Support product teams on executing the sustainability impact transparency roadmap.

• Provide guidance for the design and development of the future sustainability value proposition in the portfolio.

• Advocate with internal and external stakeholders on continuous improvement opportunities for product sustainability.

• Support integrating sustainability and eco-design principles and tools into R&D and innovation processes.

• Update and deliver internal presentations and trainings to different functions.

• Provide expert support to global project teams in R&D, business strategy, supply chain, and others who have an impact on or are subject to implementing the sustainability program.

• Support on corporate ESG reporting and commitments as required.

• Manage collaborations with auditing and verification bodies on product environmental declarations and certifications.

• Actively participate in transformers related external sustainability standardization committees and industrial initiatives.

To be considered for this role, we’re looking for someone with:

• Min. 5 years of professional experience as environmental impact analysis expert in a consulting, industry and/or academic contex

• Strong knowledge of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodologies and tools including experience in performing full-scale studies with LCA software tools, particularly SimaPro and GaBi.

• University degree in sustainability, environmental science, engineering, business, or a related field.

• Strong general quantitative and qualitative analytical and problem-solving skills.

• A thorough understanding of sustainability topics and standards in the engineering and manufacturing industry of capital goods and services.

• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate complex information in clear, understandable ways to internal and external audiences.

• Ability to work closely with large and complex remote teams and in a multi-country & -cultural environment.

• Excellent project management skills with demonstrated capacity to take initiative, structure and prioritize own work, works effectively, independently and deliver on committed schedule.

• Strong written and oral communication skills, fluent in English, other European languages are a plus
