Python Backend Web Developer (6 to 9 years)

Hitachi Vantara is seeking a Backend Python web developer to join our tools development team. We are working to change the way the company executes the sales process. The candidate will primarily focus on the development and maintenance of middleware logic and support systems to enable responsive, coherent, and pleasant user experience. The ideal candidate will also have knowledge of design principles and be able to bring our designs to life. This individual will be an integral part of the team and will work closely with frontend developers to define, design and develop the necessary APIs. The candidate should have the desire to grow into a full-stack developer and will play an essential part in defining how our applications look and feel.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop robust, scalable, and secure web applications using Python and Django frameworks.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other developers to understand project requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code following best practices and coding standards.
• Develop and maintain database schemas, queries, and APIs to support the application functionality.
• Perform code reviews to ensure code quality, readability, and adherence to established standards.
• Troubleshoot and debug application issues, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks, and optimizing application performance.
• Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in web development.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior developers, assisting them in their professional growth.
• Collaborate with the DevOps team to deploy and maintain applications on cloud platforms.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Python Django Developer, with at least 7+ years of experience in web development.
• Strong proficiency in Python, Django, and related frameworks.
• Solid understanding of web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular).
• Experience with database systems, particularly SQL and ORM libraries (e.g., Django ORM, SQLAlchemy).
• Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git) and experience with agile development methodologies.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently as well as in a team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently, finding solutions to programming problems with minimal oversight
• Ability to work in a team with diverse technical backgrounds
• Ability to provide technical requirements
• Ability to adapt to changing project requirements
• Familiarity with working in Linux

Not required but a strong plus
• Experience with React JS is a plus
• Prior work with web analytics technologies
• SASS or LESS experience
• General familiarity with the .js framework landscape
